The Wise Therapist

When you come into therapy you bring all of you with you, not just the person you are today, but rather, your whole self: your heart, soul and spirit, your past, present and future self.

One thing you can be sure about is that your future will unfold regardless of your input. Therefore, it is wise to take incremental steps towards intentional living.

Please take advantage of my free 30-minute session to discuss your options.

SERVICESWhat I Do?

Most times my approach to therapy is eclectic which means I use multiple theoretical orientations and techniques in any one session. However, this is very much determined by your unique needs e.g., your situation and personality.

Let’s face it, some of us thrive on change and even go in search of it, some of us can take it or leave us, while others simply prefer the status quo and take a little longer to move in another direction.

Today, the modern therapist can be very creative, unlike the therapist of the early 20th Century where therapy existed of mainly one style of treatment which was expected to suit everyone.

Being flexible can add curiosity, adventure and new interests in our day-to-day lives, which, when practised in small daily increments, can change our circumstances without the feeling of being totally overwhelmed.

Range of Therapies
Solution Focused Therapy

Solution-focused therapy (SFT)is a treatment that invites the client to work closely with the therapist to identify ways of solving his/her issues. This approach focusses on empowerment through problem-solving, as opposed to traditional therapy that focusses on the why or how of problems.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of treatment to address different kinds of mental health issues including: anxiety disorders: generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based behaviour therapy that utilises an electric mix of metaphor, paradox, and mindfulness skills. In this context mindfulness is consciously focusing on the here-and-now.
Loss and Grief Therapy
All change in our lives involve loss to some degree. Whether it’s a loss of a family member through death, a partner through marriage or other means of commitment, or a job, all loss requires us to change in some way. Everyone is unique in how they respond to loss, therefore, the strategies for loss and grief, like any therapeutic intervention, are inherently adaptable.
Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy
Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) has been validated by more than 25 years of scientific research. It is more effective than traditional imaginative techniques and is less intrusive while providing more privacy. Fully immersive VRET offers the client a real-life scenario where the therapist is able adapt and control the environments to meet clients' individual needs.
Narrative and Expressive Writing Therapy
Narrative therapy is an empowering and collaborative approach where the client and therapist work towards uncovering or identifying a problem at a deeper level. The writing down of the problem in story form serves to transform the effects of the issues by providing space between the person and the problem.
